Mumbai, I am back :)

I am extremely happy to announce that I have sent in my resignation to my current company, and will very very soon be moving back to where I belong . I ofcourse have an offer from a products based company in Bombay. I am really hoping that working here will help me evolve a lot as a developer.

Even thinking about going back makes me feel so warm inside. The time I spent here in Hyderabad has been a really good experience. I have grown a lot in these 9 (:P) months. But the most important fact is that I realised I definitely cannot don’t want to stay away from my family and P.

I had been trying to get a job in Mumbai since January. It was a very difficult process. There were very few people I could confide in, and share my depression. I was rejected twice in phone interviews, and with the fact being that there are not many product companies in Bombay suitable for my profile, my options were very less. I could not tell anything about changing jobs to my room-mates, since they are also colleagues in my company. It was mostly P who bore the brunt of my job interview frustrations. He did a great job though . Always supportive and positive, he ensured that I studied well and always made sure that all my calls to him ended on a positive note. I don’t know what I would have done without him.

I am so excited about going back, I can hardly wait. All my VESIT as well as IIT friends are in Bombay. So weekends are gonna be fun. I have missed them a lot too. Telephone really is not a substitute for face to face meetings. Plus, the fact that I will no longer have to cook to feed myself is quite a relief too. Looking forward to yummy, mom cooked meals . I am “so” lucky to go back . yeay!!!!

Long time no see

Hadn’t written a post since a long time. Mainly because I gave the link of my blog to a couple of close friends. Since then the anonymity has disappeared leading to me ceasing writing of blog posts. But now I hope that people have long forgotten that I gave them this link .

Much has happened since I stopped posting. I have joined my new job@Hyd. I now have some idea what work life means. I have started living away from my own family in true sense. I used to stay in hostel during postgrad, but that doesn’t count since it was in the same city as my home and  could go home anytime I felt like.

Living alone teaches a lot of things. For instance, I have started cooking!!!! For people who know me in real life this is a huge deal. Its not like I never cooked before, but it was usually coz I was forced to. I used to hate cooking, thinking why is it that the female of the house is expected to cook, while the man leisurely reads newspapers or watches TV. I still think that way, but now, I know that if need be I can cook a decent meal.

Apart from this, I also have a lot of free time, now that P and I are no longer in the same city, and since my job isn’t too hectic. This was one of the reasons leading to my brainwave of revamping my blog

Anyway this post is just a welcome back post for myself. More to follow later.

Walt Disney’s Brother Bear

Saw Walt Disney’s Brother Bear today. It is the story of how a boy became a man by becoming a bear. The movie starts by introducing the three brothers Sitka, Dinahi and Kenai. After a fight, the eldest brother Sitka is killed by a bear. Kenai seeks vengeance by killing the bear, and in the process gets transformed magically into a bear himself. Dinahi, the middle brother, on loosing two of his brothers to the bear, starts hunting Kenai, thinking he is the one who killed Kenai. Kenai is befriended by a cub named Koda who is separated from his mother. Koda makes Kenai realize the real meaning of brotherhood and love.

The movie is extremely cute and had me in tears by the end .  Especially the scene where Kenai decides to remain as a bear, and be a real brother to Koda. The scene where Kenai realizes that the bear he killed was in fact Koda’s mother, and that she was just trying to protect her kid when Kenai and his borthers attacked her is very stirring.

The animation for this movie is also very well done. All in all, if you are an animation fan, the movie is definately recommended.

Relationships and Parents :(

Why do parents make their own kids’ lives hell?? Why can’t they allow their children to make their own decisions? Why is society and what ppl say more important than the happiness of kids’ lives??

Almost all my friends who are in a inter-caste/inter-region relationship are suffering for these reasons. My own relationship being within my caste has been smoothly, in fact happily accepted by our parents.

But why is region and caste still such a big issue in India ..

Nostalgia :)

Our bond grew through chats. In fact our first real interaction was through msn messenger. We talked and talked and talked even more…

College khatam hote hi we used to rush home to login to messenger and start chatting which would continue for hours together, without either of us realising how time passed. We sat in our chairs for 6-8 hours never tiring of topics to discuss, our eyes glued to the screen, and our hands typing furiously… Those were the days of our almost courtship…. The proposal too happened online..

Just read the archives of our chat today.. Isn’t it wonderful to have those conversations logged, so that whenever I miss him, or whenever I feel like reading them.. I can

Had a lot of fun in the wedding celebrations.. Took looots of fotos..

Here are some of them. :

The following pic is of “karanji”  a special Maharashtrian delicacy. It is made up of outer maida coating and stuffed with a filling made up of sugar, coconut and dry fruits. After the karanjis were made, few aunts actually took pains to paint the names of guests invited to the function on each karanji. How sweet is that

The next pic is of mehendi.. A cousin applied it to my hands a day before the wedding.. rendering my hands useless for the rest of the day, since I couldn’t touch anything for the fear of spoiling the design.  Washed it off, the next morning to get a lovely orange-brown colour. The pic shows my left hand and mum’s right hand.

My final pic for this post is my attempt at nature photography. I tried to capture a flower in the garden of the event venue.

Updates

Nothing new in the past few days..

Celebrated a friends birthday in lab. Got a delicious Zebra Tort cake and had lots of fun. Along with torturing the birthday gal, we also tortured a poor guy, who committed the crime of wearing pink kurta and pyjama :O… Almost everyone who came to the lab for cake cutting took the guys case for wearing suck a girly colour. By the end of day (or night ) he was christened pinky

The next few days I am going to have a blast. My friend is getting married. So three days of festivities are gonna keep me busy, starting with mehendi tomorrow.. Isnt it lovely . Though I love having mehendi on my hand, I cant seem to be able to apply it myself. Anyways, they will be calling professionals for this purpose, I just have to sit there and enjoy.

I will be wearing a saree on the actual wedding day. Since I didn’t know how to wear a saree, my mom helps me wear it every time, I practiced wrapping one yesterday. It was such fun. I hope I will learn to wear it soon. I have to be able to wear it myself after marriage (

Apur Sansar

Just saw Satyajit Ray’s “Apur Sansar”.. What an amazing movie. The tale is so simple, but so beautifully told.

Apurva Roy and his new bride make such a cute pair. The casting is great. Especially Kajal, Apruva’s son. A must-watch movie.
